After appearing on the season 7 premiere of Koffee with Karan last year, actor Ranveer Singh will appear as a guest on the show once again, this time on the season eight premiere, where he’ll be joined by his wife, Deepika Padukone. A trailer for the episode showed Ranveer revealing that he and Deepika got engaged a full three years before their wedding in 2018, before their relationship was even a confirmed thing.

And now, a new piece of information has trickled out. Ranveer revealed that his wedding could’ve clashed with the shoot of his blockbuster film Simmba, and that he had to work around the clock with the rest of the film’s cast and crew to ensure that work was finished in time for him to leave. Ranveer told director Rohit Shetty about the issue, and they decided that there was no choice but to double their efforts.

“I called Rohit bhai and I said that aisa-aisa hai. He was like, thik hai, day night shoot karke khatam karenge tu jaa jee le apni zindagi (I called Rohit Shetty and explained the situation to him. He said okay, we’ll wrap up the shoot by working round the clock. You go and live your life). We shot day and night 24 hours round the clock towards the end of Simmba, so I could make it for my wedding.”

Deepika and Ranveer tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Italy’s Lake Como in November 2018. Simmba was released in theatres shortly after Christmas in the same year. The film remains Ranveer’s highest-grossing solo hit, with over Rs 400 crore in the bank at the worldwide box office. He reunited with Rohit Shetty on Sooryavanshi, which was released in mid-pandemic 2021, and again on last year’s critical and commercial dud Cirkus. They’ll collaborate next on Singham 3, which will also serve as an introduction for Deepika into the franchise.
