We’ve barely recovered from the ultra-expensive year-long wedding bash of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, but we may already be gearing up for yet another big fat Indian wedding. Business partners as well as rivals, the Ambanis and Adanis are two of the most powerful business dynasties of India. And now, after the multi-million dollar wedding of Ambani family’s youngest son, it’s time for Adani’s youngest son to take the centre stage. Jeet Adani is set to tie the knot with Diva Shah, and the buzz surrounding their wedding is already reaching fever-pitch with rumours suggesting pop sensation Taylor Swift might come to India for the first time to perform at the couple’s pre-wedding festivities.

In March 2024, Jeet Adani, the son of Gautam Adani, became engaged to Diva Jaimin Shah, the daughter of diamond trader Jaimin Shah of Mumbai-based diamond manufacturing firm C. Dinesh & Co. Their engagement was a low-key affair held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Goutam and his wife Priti Adani have confirmed that the wedding will be held on February 7, 2025. Though the parents have confirmed that the event will be simple and traditional, reports indicate otherwise.

Even though there’s no official confirmation, an insider has told News 18, “Yes, this is true. Taylor Swift’s team is in talks with the Adanis to perform at one of the pre-wedding festivities of Jeet Adani and Diva Shah. Even though Taylor has not confirmed her presence as of now, talks are underway and looks like the grand wedding will mark her first performance in India.”

Indian Swifties are super excited about the popstar’s grand debut in India. Taylor is well aware of her huge fandom in the sub-continent, having previously spoken about her Indian fans while promoting her album 1989 in 2014.

Beyond the headliner that is Taylor Swift, however, the entertainment lineup apparently also features music icons like Travis Scott and Honey Singh. Unverified sources also claim the wedding will have international guests like Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez, and Sydney Sweeney, making it a star-studded occasion. Lavish décor and gourmet food are a given at a ceremony like this, but the main highlight of the wedding décor is supposed to be a record-breaking rangoli created by 20,000 to 50,000 artists and a magical drone show that will illuminate the sky with a dazzling display of colours.

What does the family have to say?

The Adani family, which is composed of Gautam Adani, his wife Priti Adani, sons Karan and Jeet, daughter-in-law Paridhi, and granddaughter Kaveri all recently visited the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. When reporters asked Mr. Adani about his son’s wedding, he said, “It will be a very simple, traditional marriage… just like common people.”

“My upbringing and our way of doing things are that of a common person from the working class. Jeet too is here for Ma Ganga’s blessings. The wedding will be a simple and traditional family affair,” he added.

The internet is in a frenzy about the international and celebrity guests that’s speculated to include names like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Taylor Swift, and more, with many calling it the “Maha Kumbh of celebrities.” Responding to the rumours, the billionaire businessman said, “Definitely not!”

However, netizens on social media remain unconvinced. Notably, even if the wedding turns out to be a traditional family celebration, the pre-wedding celebrations could still prove to be a grand bash. With the rumours spreading faster than wildfire, it looks like Swifties in India have to wait until February 7 to see what happens.
