Weddings today are nothing short of grand spectacles. For many families, the pressure to host a “perfect” wedding often outweighs practical thinking. But a couple has caught widespread attention for choosing to walk away from these expectations.
Instead of spending a massive amount on a lavish wedding, they chose to invest that money in buying a home. Their wedding didn’t take place in a banquet hall or a destination venue, but inside the very house they had just purchased.

Couple Gets Married Inside New Home They Bought
In a viral video, the couple is seen getting married inside their newly bought flat. They are seen surrounded by close family members. There are no extravagant decorations or flashy setups. Just a priest performing the ceremony rituals as the couple begins their married life in their own home.
The groom’s brother, who filmed the moment, explains the thought behind the decision in the video. “Guys, guess what! Mere bhai ki shadi ho rahi hai, and ye hai uska wedding venue (Guys, guess what! My brother is getting married, and this is his wedding venue),” he says while showing the decorated flat.
He then adds, “Ye koi mamuli wedding venue nahi hai, ye literally uska new ghar hai. Instead of doing all that fancy stuff, usne usi paiso se ye naya ghar le liya. I mean kitna crazy hai na. Aaj ke date mein aisa smartest move maine nhi dekha (This isn’t an ordinary wedding venue, it’s literally his new home. Instead of doing all the fancy stuff, he used that money to buy this house. I mean, how crazy is that? I haven’t seen a smarter move in today’s time.)”
The caption shared along with the video reads, “Couple skipped expensive wedding celebrations and instead used the saved money to buy a house. The couple then performed their wedding pheras inside their new home, choosing long-term security over a lavish wedding.”

Internet Praises The ‘Mature’ Decision
The couple’s unconventional choice sparked a wave of reactions online, with many users applauding their financial clarity.
One person commented, “My my, what a brilliant idea! God bless this couple with all the good fortune and wisdom.”
Another user questioned the purpose of spending heavily on weddings, writing, “What’s the point of putting on a show in front of a hundred people who wouldn’t even meet you for the next I don’t know how many years, who wouldn’t care, and you don’t even hold any value for them. At least this flat will benefit someone.”
“There are 2 opinions – It’s the best decision or marriage only happens one time (India), so spend some money,” someone else remarked.
A Delhi-based doctor also shared her personal experience, saying she and her husband had made a similar choice. Describing it as a “minimal wedding,” she wrote, “This is a brilliant idea. When me had Harshdeep Rapal married, we also bought our flat first and then had a very minimal wedding. Best decision of our lives.”
“We need to make this trend cool. Showing off in wedding ceremonies is what makes people broke,” an individual said.
“Smart people invest in assets. Foolish people invest in one-day shows for relatives who forget by Monday. House > wedding circus. Wealth > validation,” a commenter added.
A viewer, calling it a “definition of maturity,” pointed out that beginning married life burdened with debt just to fund a grand celebration. They noted that, but this couple took a smart decision and began their married life with “an appreciating asset” which will only bring them “peace of mxind and financial freedom.
