An Indian groom and his Russian bride shared a light-hearted wedding moment that caught many people’s attention. During one of the traditional rituals, the bride’s sister decided to play along in full spirit. What followed was a funny exchange about “three elephants” that left everyone smiling. The clip shows how cross-cultural weddings can blend traditions in unexpected and joyful ways, especially when family members take part with enthusiasm.

The moment revolves around the popular wedding custom known as “Joota Chupai.”

A Playful Ritual Turns Into A Funny Demand

‘Joota Chupai’ (also known as Joota Chori or Joota Churai) is a playful and traditional ritual in Hindu weddings where the bride’s sisters, cousins, and friends steal the groom’s shoes when he takes them off before entering the mandap (altar) for the wedding ceremony.

In the clip, the groom and bride are seen sitting side by side after the ceremony. The bride is dressed in a red wedding outfit with traditional jewellery, while the groom wears a cream sherwani and turban. Both have flower garlands around their necks.

The bride’s sister stands in front of them, holding the groom’s shoes in her hand. She appears serious but playful as she speaks to the bride. Since the bride understands both sides, she translates the sister’s words for the groom. The text on the video reads, “POV: her sister wanted 3 elephants.”

The demand for “three elephants” is made in a joking manner, as part of the ritual where the groom is expected to give money or gifts to get his shoes back.

Groom Finally Agrees To Get His Shoes Back

As the conversation continues, the bride smiles and explains the sister’s playful demand. The groom listens carefully and reacts with a grin. After some back and forth, he is later seen wearing his shoes again, suggesting that he agreed to the terms set by his sister-in-law.

The caption of the video reads, “I married a Russian woman… and now her sister is hiding my shoes like it’s an Olympic sport. Cross-cultural marriage comes with surprises.”
